Politics + Celebrity + Dash Of Prom = WHCD

One of the perks of being a Washington journalist - getting to go to the White House Correspondents Dinner. About 3,000 people made it into this year's red carpet event, which brought together the usual mix of celebs, top government officials and the journalists who cover them. Among those in the audience: Michael Bloomberg, Rahm Emanuel, Larry Summers, Timothy Geithner, Sanjay Gupta, Mariska Hargitay, Chevy Chase, Jessica Alba, Jessica Simpson, Tony Romo, Steven Spielberg, Bon Jovi, Michael Douglas, Alec Baldwin ...

From the top: President Barack Obama addresses the audience as Michelle Obama and comedian Jay Leno look on. Meena Thiruvengadam with Quintin Aaron, star of the Blind Side and a Law & Order regular. KC and the Sunshine Band perform at an after-party hosted by MSNBC. Rachel Maddow tends bar at that after-party.
